Cheryl Shaw My Bruce family begins, as far as my research goes, with James Bruce and Mary Smith. James was born about 1735, location unknown, and died 10 Feb 1819 on Wolf Creek, Pickens County, SC. He and Mary had a number of children, among them were, Patience, John, William, George, Daniel, Sarah, Rebecca, and my ancestor, James (2). This younger James was born 28 June 1760 on Wolf Creek. He married Priscilla Bradley. He and Priscilla ended up moving their family to Habersham County, Georgia where he died sometime between 1830 and 1832. Their children included Jonathan, daughter name unknown, James, Ruth, Laban, Rebecca, Abraham, Acquilla, and Betty Elizabeth. Jonathan is my ancestor. He was born 8 Feb 1788 on Wolf Creek, and died 10 Apr 1857 in Cherokee County, Georgia. His wife, Mary Elizabeth Armstrong Barnhill, moved with all, or at least most, of her children, to Choctaw County, Mississippi after his death. They had twelve children, 2 daughters and 10 sons. I'm pretty sure all 10 of their sons served in the civil war, with at least one dying in that conflict. Their children were: Malissa, Berry, Priscilla, John A., Warren, Calton, Baylis, Green, Calvin, Daniel, James, Mac V., and Thompson. Baylis is my ancestor. He married Amanda Bruce, daughter of John Bruce and Frances Norrell. Their son, George Edward Bruce moved his family to Texas and is my ancestor.
