Enlisted man in a Confederate cavalry uniform
Enlisted man in a Confederate cavalry uniform
This photo depicts an enlisted man in a Confederate cavalry uniform. The original was handed down for several generations within the family (Lamar County Biards and Prices) but the identity has been lost. My cousin, who has the original, and I both feel that this one is of a relative, but our families had quite a few men who served in the Texas cavalry during the War Between the States, and we have no idea which one this likeness may portray.

Does anyone know who this is?
Classmate at Sam Houston Normal Institute?
Classmate at Sam Houston Normal Institute?
The photo of the lady was, I believe, in the collection of Nancy Claudia Price Smith, and was passed to her elder daughter who in turn passed it to her daughter upon her own death, and it came to me upon my cousin's death two years ago. The face bears no discernible resemblance to any of my maternal relatives (Smith, Price, Biard), and I wonder if it could have been a classmate of my grandmother when she was at Sam Houston Normal Institute.

A copy of the photo has been sent to the research librarian at Sam Houston State University, but she has never been able to identify the lady either.

Photo of an unknown female, presumed to be member of the Hooker family.

Can you help us identify this woman?
WHICH Robert Lee Hightower?
WHICH Robert Lee Hightower?
I know very little about this photo. It was emailed to me about a year ago from a fellow researcher. I was told this was one Robert Lee Hightower & "could it possibly be my Uncle?". My Dad had a brother by this name. I STILL do not know. There are a dozen or more by that name in our Hightower lines. Only clue is the "Cotton Palace" on this vehicle, which was in Waco, TX many years ago. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it.

The mystery is: WHICH Robert Lee Hightower is this young man?
Mrs. Emma Sanders
Mrs. Emma Sanders
This lovely lady is Mrs. Emma Sanders. Photo is in possession of my cousin, Betty Hightower Cardenas & was found among her Dad's belongings. On back of the photo was stated: "Mrs. Emma Sanders, friend of the Hightowers in Corsicana", however we believe Emma may have been related to the Hightowers through our Teletha Hightower & husband, Stephan Nathaniel Sanders. Right now, she is a mystery & we would love to know about her.

Since the Sanders surname crosses our Hightower surname, we feel she belongs to our family. Can anyone help with this mystery photo? If so, please contact us.

Photo Button
Photo Button
Photo button (pin) from about 1903. May depict a SMITH from Lamar County, Texas.

This is a greatly enlarged image of a photo pin from the effects of Isabel Smith
Jetton (1904-1986) of Dallas, Texas, possibly inherited from her mother, Nancy Claudia Price Smith (1875-1951) of Lamar County, Texas.
The photo, measuring less than an inch in diameter, is mounted to a ladies' dress pin (though I suppose that a man could wear one). My very tentative hypothesis is that it may depict Robert Edgar Smith (1878-1935) of Lamar and Wilbarger counties, Texas. However, Robert Edgar Smith had two brothers, Edward Lee and William Harry, and I would greatly appreciate corroboration or
correction of my identification by others who may have other photographs
with which to compare this pin.
The Lady Needs a Name
The Lady Needs a Name
From the effects of Nancy Claudia Price Smith, 1875-1951, Lamar County, Texas.

From the collection of Isabel Smith Jetton of Dallas, Texas(1904-1986), most likely having come from the collection of her mother, Nancy Claudia Price Smith of Lamar County, Texas. The photograph bears no identifying marks as to subject, location or date. If a relative, the lady is most likely from the northeast Texas Biard, Price or Smith families. She may also have been a classmate of Claudia at Sam Houston Normal Institute about 1894-1895.
Confederate Cavalryman
Confederate Cavalryman
Thought to be an enlisted Texas cavalryman in the Confederacy during the War Between the States.

Found among the effects of the late Mildred Smith Millspaugh (1907-1994, Lamar County, Texas). Is he Robert Orlando Smith (1835-1914),who enlisted in the 32d Texas Cavalry in 1861? Or is he a Sanders, a Skidmore, or another Smith?
Unknown people in Corsicana, Texas
Unknown people in Corsicana, Texas
This is another photo that had belonged to my
great-grandmother, Melvina Burks Moore, in Coffee County, Tennessee. Possible surnames are Peay, Cathey, or Burks.

Does anyone recognize this man and woman who evidently
lived in Corsicana, Texas? Written on the back of this photo were the
words, 'Mother and Dad' and Corsicana, Texas. They may be related to the Peay, Cathey, or Burks family of Coffee County, Tennssee.
