O'Brien girls
O'Brien girls
These girls may be sisters or cousins. Probably born in or near Athenry, County Galway, Ireland. They may have the surname O'Brien or it may be their mother(s) who are surnamed O'Brien. I believe they are the neices of my Grandfather James Joseph O'Brien and my grand-aunt Winnie O'Brien. It's possible that one or more of these girls are the same girls whose photos I have posted here, Winnie OBrien, Norah, and/or Eileen. But they may be someone else entirely. I would like to find them, as they may well be still living and are probably my mother's cousins.
Eileen
Eileen
Eileen may have been an O'Brien, or her mother may have been an O'Brien. Possible names for Eileen's mother are Annie O'Brien Hancock, Mary O'Brien Daly, Margaret O'Brien (married name unknown)or perhaps her father was the O'Brien, maybe Bill, Patrick, Thomas, or Martin. Eileen was probably born in or near Athenry, County Galway, Ireland. She sent the photo to her Aunt Winnie O'Brien McGrath who had emigrated to Boston MA and then moved to Canada when she married Walter McGrath. I would like to find Eileen, as she is my mother's cousin and resembles my mother and me and my siblings.
Winnie O'Brien (child)
Winnie O'Brien (child)
This photo of Winnie O'Brien was sent from Ireland to her cousins in Boston MA, Patricia, Norah, and Buddy (James Jr.) O'Brien and their father and mother James Joseph O'Brien and Molly (Mary E.) Sullivan O'Brien. The photo was probably taken in the first half of the 1900's. This may be the same Winnie as the one I have posted that was taken in 1959, but I don't know for sure. Winnie was probably born in the Athenry area of County Galway, Ireland, as that is where her aunts and uncles were born. I would like to find Winnnie.

Winnie O'Brien
Winnie O'Brien is probably my mother's cousin. She looks enough like my mother to be her sister. The photo may have been taken in the 1940's or 1950's, and was sent to another Winnie O'Brien (married name McGrath) who had emigrated to Boston Mass and then to Canada. The Winnie in Canada was my grandfather's sister. His name was James Joseph O'Brien. He was born in or near Athenry, County Galway, so I am assuming that the Winnie in the photo is from the same area. I would love to find Winnie.

2020 marks 20 years since the inception of AncientFaces. We are the same team who began this community so long ago. Over the years it feels, at least to us, that our family has expanded to include so many. Thank you!

I want to build a place where my son can meet his great-grandparents. My grandmother Marian Joyce (Benning) Kroetch always wanted to meet her great-grandchildren, but she died just a handful of years before my son's birth. So while she didn't have the opportunity to meet him, at least he will be able to know her. For more information about what we're building see About AncientFaces. For information on the folks who build and support the community see Daniel - Founder & Creator.
My father's side is full blood Sicilian and my mother's side is a combination of Welsh, Scottish, German and a few other European cultures. One of my more colorful (ahem black sheep) family members came over on the Mayflower. He was among the first to be hanged in the New World for a criminal offense he made while onboard the ship.

Tommy Francis and Norah O'Brien
Tommy Francis and Norah. Either their mother or father was an O'Brien. The photo was taken some time in the first half of the 1900's, in Ireland. Their mother's name may have been Gertie, as the back of the photo says: "with all the best love to our Dear Auntie Winnie & Walter from Tommy Francis and Norah - Gertie."
Aunt Winnie's brother, James Joseph O'Brien, was my grandfather. He and Winnie were born in or near Athenry, County Galway, Ireland.

I would like to find Tommy Francis and Norah.

Sullivan siblings
Sullivan siblings
Left to right, back row: Patrick Sullivan, Timothy Joseph Sullivan; front: unknown, Catherine T Sullivan, Mary E Sulllivan (Mollie.) Since I knew 4 of them, and they were siblings, I assume that the unknown is a sibling too. They are all from the Bantry area of County Cork Ireland. Can anyone identify the unknown? They are the sons and daughters of Philip Sullivan and Nora O'Connor.

This photo was in my parents' things. I assume he is a relative, so he may ba a White, LeBlanc, Hachey, O'Brien, Sullivan, or even another name. We lived in Boston, MA and he may have been from that area. Please contact me if he looks familiar or you see any clues on his uniform that may help identify him. I am only guessing that this was taken in the 1940's.
