Jesse Stinson Boatright
The photo is of my great grandfather times 3 Jesse Stinson Boatright born December 11,1830 at Madison,Kentucky.Death was at Wagoner,Oklahoma November 9,1905.He was the father of 16 children.He left Platte Co. Missouri about 1857 and went to Arkansas.About 1862 he moved to Texas to escape the turmoil of living in northern Arkansas during the Civil war.He returned to Van Buren Co. Arkansas about 1866 then moved to Wagoner,Indian Tertritory,Oklahoma.Jesse taught school in his younger years,he was also a merchant and an insurance salesman.In the 1890's he was secretary of the Watt's Assn.It was here he spent considerable time and money in trying to prove the family had Cherokee Indian Ancestry which came from the Blackburn Family of Virginia.He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
