Don't know if you already have the date, but his pants crease shows this to be after 1892.
Probably 1900-1902 from their ages, but they were still wearing 1890s style dress clothes.

Young Man Tintype - Gilliam - Mason

This style tintype in a white oval paper frame, was common around 1870. So this 16-18 year old boy is probably a close relative born about 1842.
