The trip took the loggers from Oneida to Booneville where they would spend the night, and resume their journey to Bell Point in Lee County, Ky. They would walk back to Oneida. This is my grandmother, Katryn Hamilton Davidson (b. Aug 30 1894 Oneida, Clay County, KY d. Jul 30 1976 Laurel County, KY, Burial: Landrum Cemetery, East Bernstadt, Laurel County, KY. Kate is buried next to her second husband Elmer Webb and the name on the tombstone is Kate Webb. Kate was married to (1) Henry Davidson and later to (2) Elmer Webb. Very little is known about my grandmother Kate. She used several different names on her children's birth records including, Kate Roark (this was her mothers maiden name) Kate & Katie Spurlock, Kate and Katie Hamilton, and on one child "Eva"s birth record she used the name Catherine Rose. Kate used the name "Kate Spurlock" on her marriage record to my grandfather Henry Davidson. They were married on Mar 02 1911 in Clay County, KY. From all the research I have done I have come to the conclusion that my grandmothers true birth name may have been Katyrn Hamilton. Kate's mother's name was Adaline Roark from Clay County, Ky and she listed her daughters name as Katy Roark on the 1910 census. Kates children thought their mothers name may have actually been Mary Catherine Hamilton, but I have found no evidence of this. I do know that Adaline first married a man named Stephen Turner and later married a man named Wiley Spurlock. In between Adaline's first marriage and second marriage, Kate was born. Kate's death book from her funeral states that her father's name is Henry Hamilton. I am yet to find this "Henry Hamilton on any records in the area they lived in. Kate's grandfather's name was Barnabus Roark. If anyone has any knowledge and documents on my grandmother I would very much appreciate talking with you. Please contact me.
This is the only known family photo of my grandfather Henry Davidson and his family. It was taken shortly before Henry was murdered in 1929. My father, J.C., is the youngest child in this photo and he was born in 1925. I have estimated my fathers age at about 2 or 3 years old when this photo was taken. This photograph includes Henry Davidson, wife Kate Hamilton, and children, Levi, Fannie, Earl, Eva, and J.C. My grandmother Kate was pregnant with Jessie when they took this photo. Henry and Kate had two other children who were named Hallie and Sarah. Both of these children died in infantcy.
Eva Davidson my aunt, daughter of Henry Davidson and Kate Hamilton of Teges, Clay County, KY. Eva was born Dec 17 1914 in Estill County, KY, died Jul 08 1939 Montgomery County, Ohio, buried in Mt Moriah Cemetery. This is a photo of Eva on her wedding day. She married Arthur Robinson. I have no other information on him. Eva's parents were from Clay County, Ky and that is where Eva lived most of her life until the murder of her father Henry Davidson.
