Douglas Lowther Eric Gorringe was born on October 26, 1919 to parents Eric Lowther John Gorringe (1893-1970) and Sylvia Kathleen Barwick (1894-1976). In 1942, he married Doreen Gloria Murphy. Douglas was a Flying Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force during World War II. As a Flying Officer, Douglas would have been responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of aircraft, as well as the completion of missions that were essential to the war effort. He would have undergone extensive military training, including specialized training in aviation and navigation. Unfortunately, Douglas did not survive the war and he passed away on October 28, 1942 at only 23 years old. He is buried at Port Moresby Memorial Panel 9., in Port Moresby, National Capital District County Papua New Guinea.

He lived in Surrey, United Kingdom and married Hettie Williams (born 1921) in July of 1940. Douglas was a Lance Corporal in the Highland Light Infantry (City of Glasgow Regiment). He served his country during World War II, enlisting with the 5th Battalion of the regiment. Douglas Gorringe passed away at age 24 years old on October 28, 1944 in Netherlands. Douglas Gorringe was buried at Bergen-op-zoom War Cemetery.

His final resting place is at East Clifton Cemetery in East Clifton, Estrie Region County, Quebec, Canada.
