When John Doudell (also spelled "Doudle" or "Dowdell") was born on March 26, 1861, in Faxon, Minnesota, his father, William, was 31 and his mother, Margret, was 26. In 1899, when John was 38, he married Rose Doudell and they had 12 children together. He died on April 9, 1936, in Santa Clara, California, at the age of 75, and was buried in Santa Clara, California.

John is credited with starting the Doudell Trucking Company in San Jose in 1920 which expanded operations into Arizona in 1950. The company’s first business line was hauling steel products from California to Arizona, and now offer full van service, flatbed and intermodal container service within the Southwest. Doudell also specializes in warehousing, transloading, storage and moving equipment and flatbed containers for commercial customers. Other family businesses and sister companies within the trucking industry include Diamond Tanklines and Transportation–a fuel transport company–and a Mitsubishi/Fuso truck dealership, both in California.

John Paul Doudell was born to Paul McKeon Doudell (1906-1986) and Alice Flores born in 1916, and had a sister Rose Jean Doudell born in 1944 and passed away in 1992.

John Doudell of San Jose, Santa Clara County, California was born on December 9, 1902, and died at age 82 years old in June 1985.
