Did you know?
In 1892, in the year that Abraham Lindenbaum was born, on January 1st, Ellis Island opened to process immigrants. 700 passed through on the first day - in the first year, 450,000 were processed. The processing center was originally a 3 story wooden building - with outbuildings - that burned down a few years later.

In 1924, by the time he was 32 years old, Macy's department store in New York held its first "Thanksgiving parade" on November 27th at 9a - during church services but leaving plenty of time to attend the big football game between Syracuse and Columbia universities. The parade was held as a way to promote the opening of the “World’s Largest Store” and its 1 million square feet of retail space in Manhattan’s Herald Square. The parade was 6 miles long and included floats, Macy's employees dressed as clowns, cowboys, and sword-wielding knights, and animals from Central Park Zoo. Santa Claus, of course, brought up the rear - opening the Christmas shopping season for Macy's.

Would You Wear These Dresses From The Past?
Some dresses' details are fascinating, some dresses flatter - and some would smother, especially in the summer. Many of these dresses no longer fit our daily lives, and are definitely out of fashion, but it sure would be fun to wear some of them! Whatcha think of these? Personally, I think I'd love the opportunity to wear a few of these beautiful dresses.
