He had siblings Arthur Clarke, Catherine Lucy (Clarke) Derbyshire, Frederick William Clarke, Mary Agnes (Clarke) Derbyshire, and Jane Frances (Clarke) Evans. He married Emma Smith Clarke, and had children Doris Beryl Clarke, Gladys Emma Clarke, Lila Maude Clarke, Leonard Hector Clarke, and Alfred Harry Clarke. Alfred Clarke died at age 77 years old on September 20, 1948 in Northcote, City of Darebin County.
