Arthur Young died at age 74 years old on April 12, 1909 in Colorado Springs, CO, and was buried in April 1909 in Colorado Springs, El Paso County.

In 1834, in the year that Arthur Babcock Young was born, on March 28th, President Andrew Jackson was censured by the United States Congress, 26–20, due to his efforts to close The Second Bank of the United States - which eventually led to the Panic of 1837. The censure was expunged in 1837, after years of effort by Jackson supporters.

In 1857, when he was 23 years old, on March 6th, the US Supreme Court ruled that Blacks were not citizens and that slaves couldn't sue for freedom. The case was known as Dred Scott v. Sandford. It further divided the country and added to the forces that created the Civil War. It wasn't overturned until the 14th Amendment became law in 1868.
