Arthur Henry Pethybridge was born on May 4, 1905 in Essex, Hertfordshire, Middlesex, England to parents Henry John Pethybridge (1871-1953) and Gertrude Alice Howell (1876-1957). He immigrated to the United States and arrived in Portland, Maine in March of 1907. He had siblings Frank Ernest (1895-1965), Ethel Violet (1897-1960), and William Albert Pethybridge (1900-1979). On August 30, 1925 he married Grace Delana Ball (1905-1990) in Niagara Falls, Niagara, Ontario, Canada. They had a son, Arhur Henry Pethybridge Jr (1925-1999). The couple divorced around 1940. Arthur enlisted on March 10, 1943 in Buffalo New York and served in the Army as part of the "1249TH S C S U TRENTON N.J." unit. He was in service from March 10, 1943 until November 6, 1944.

He was white of English roots as he and his parents were born in England. His mother was born in Melksham, Wiltshire, England and his father was born in Kentish Town, London, England.

Arthur was born in Essex, Hertfordshire, Middlesex, England and immigrated to the United States as a young toddler. He arrived in Portland, Maine on March 16, 1907 and then moved to Tavares, Lake, Florida in the 1920's. He later moved to Niagara Falls, New York, USA and lived there in the 1930's and 1940's and then moved to Richmond, Contra Costa, California, USA in the 1950's where he would live the rest of his life.

Arthur Pethybridge Sr enlisted on March 10, 1943 in Buffalo New York (Military serial#: 32842183). He was a private and his terms of enlistment were, "Enlistment For The Duration Of The War Or Other Emergency, Plus Six Months, Subject To The Discretion Of The President Or Otherwise According To Law". He served in the Army as part of the "1249TH S C S U TRENTON N.J." unit and was in service from March 10, 1943 until November 6, 1944.
