He married Marie Teressa (Antoinette) Ferraro on September 5, 1964 in Jersey City, Hudson County and they later divorced in August 1994. They had a child Linda Ann (Cristina) Gutto. He also married Marie Teresa Antoinette (Ferraro) Gutto on September 5 in Jersey City, Hudson County and they later divorced in August 1994 in Fairfield, Essex County. They had children Gina Ann (Gutto Juiliano) Kleban-Ickes and Linda Ann Cristina (Gutto) Fiore.

Carmen had to leave school in the 5th grade, along with his brothers, Michael, Dominick and Frank to help support the family. Carmen had a paper route and helped a foot-salesman by carrying samples/goods over the Bayonne Bridge into New York with him. Carmen enjoyed stick ball in the street with his friends, hanging out at Bergen Point and visiting Staten Island often on FOOT Carmen walked the Bayonne Bridge often crossing into Staten Island Later he enjoyed restoring cars, his first was a AMC Javelin, then 1965 Ford Mustang and 1967 Ford Mustang Convertible He had many antique and classic cars throughout his life. He enjoyed car shows and swap meets and won many awards for his 1965 Ford Mustang. He and Marie attended Lead East, a summer car show weekend event, for many summers. Carmen loved taking his family on vacations every summer. Mostly to the NJ shore. Beginning in Point Pleasant and Seaside Heights then to Wildwood Crest and Cape May. A few trips to Pennsylvania, Hersey, Allentown, Kutztown, Pocono Mountains. Carmen loved live music, he attended many concerts with Marie and his children, Linda and Carmine, Kenny Rodgers, Susan Anton, and many 50s bands. Carmen also loved Elvis and Elvis impersonators. He took his family to many live shows over the years. Later in life, once divorced from Marie, he was with another woman named Diane, who he enjoyed dancing with and going on Circle Line cruises on the 4th of July. Carmen still enjoys watching live music on his many DVDs Carmen loved all things Christmas -- decorating outside his family home was a joy that he grew with his daughter Linda and her (now ex ) husband Pasquale. They won many home decorating contests during their residency in Fairfield NJ
