In 1829, in the year that Charles Meredith Young was born, on March 4th, Andrew Jackson was sworn in as the seventh President of the United States. His wife, Rachel, had died 10 weeks before - Jackson blamed the slurs of his opponents for her illness and death and said "May God Almighty forgive her murderers, I never can."
