Chester Eugene Bartlett of Camperdown, Corangamite Shire County, VIC Australia was born on March 10, 1907 in Camperdown to Henry Thomas Bartlett and Elizabeth Ann Alice (Pitman) Bartlett. He had siblings Henrietta Mabel (Bartlett) Smith, Annie Elizabeth (Bartlett) Mcgregor, James Arthur Bartlett, Frank Everitt Bartlett, Calvert Forrest Bartlett, Ivan Lewis Bartlett, Nellie Ollie Bartlett, Clara Emily (Bartlett) Mcsweeney, Arthur Charles Bartlett, Henry John Bartlett, and Ruby Isabella Bartlett Prince. He married Myrtle Hilda Stephens in 1929, and had a child Dorothy Gwendoli Bartlett. Chester Bartlett died at age 81 years old on April 30, 1988 in Kew, City of Boroondara County.

In 1907, in the year that Chester Eugene Bartlett was born, in October, over a 3 week period, the New York stock exchange fell almost 50% from the previous year's high mark. Public panic ensued and there were runs on banks since the U.S. was in the middle of a recession. J.P. Morgan offered his own fortune to back the banks and he was followed by other financiers. This temporarily shored up the banking system, stopping the immediate panic. All of this led to the creation of the Federal Reserve.
Did you know?
In 1918, at the age of only 11 years old, Chester was alive when on November 11th, an armistice was signed between the Allies and Germany, ending the fighting on the Western Front in World War I. This meant a complete defeat of Germany although Germany never formally surrendered. It took another six months of negotiations to sign an actual peace treaty between the warring parties.
