Dale Parsons:
Friend of the family and ministering brother - Bingham was a delightful young man. He was an exceptional volleyball player who had a great future as a collegiate player. He had great athleticism and leaping ability and could reach high above the net to spike the ball. He also performed Polynesian dancing and singing and could play the ukulele. He had myriads of friends and was constantly out and about and active. He was a faithful young man in his church. Well before taking ill and passing away, he was asked what he felt about dying. He calmly responded, "If I go, I go." The cause of his death was Valley Fever. He battled it in ICU for 3 months. He would get better, then worse, then better again. His family finally decided they needed to seek God's will and not just theirs in regards to a hopeful recovery. Three days later, he passed away. The large church that hosted his funeral was packed full. More than 200 copies of the Book of Mormon with his family picture and his personal testimony were given away at the services. As in life, Bingham was all over the place in death. His brother felt his presence on his mission in Washington, his best friend had multiple experiences with him in Guatemala, and his cousin felt his presence and influence on his mission in the Virginia-DC area. Recently, I randomly crossed paths with a young man from his volleyball team more than 15 years since he left us. I have happy and grateful memories for my time with Bingham and his family.
Photo of Shelley Cardiel Shelley Cardiel: I have an old studio photograph of Sebastian WILLACKER which was taken at the Pennington Studio in New Washington, OH. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's or early 1900's with Sebastian likely in his 60's at the time it was taken. He is also identified as "Cousin to Great Grandma WIETHMANS". Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Sebastian and his family: Sebastian WILLACKER was b. 17 or 19 or 26 Mar 1830 in Nuremberg or Vasbuhl, Germany to parents Adam WILLACKER (1799-1874) and Elizabeth “Elise” or “Elsie” SCHMUCK (1803-1870) who were married 19 Aug 1823 in Vasbuhl, Germany. Sebastian was one of 19 children born to this couple including Eva; Anton; Adam; Adam; Anton; Jonas; Sebastian; Barbara; Andrew; Andrew; Eva; Eva; Kasper Boniface; Anna Elizabeth; A. M. Franzika; Anonyma; Margaret Antonia; Franz Ludwig; and George Severin WILLACKER, all born between 1824 and 1852. Sebastian married Mary Magdalena or Madaline “Lena” KELLER (1834-1902) on 3 Sept 1854 in Vasbuhl, Germany and they had 10 children including Magdalena Philomena “Minnie”; Elizabeth “Lizzie”; Victoria Barbara; George B. or P.; Charles Sebastian; Joseph Anthony; John Henry; Mary Sheridan; Peter Alphonse; and Michael WILLACKER all born between 1855 and 1875. Sebastian died 7 or 14 or 16 or 17 Dec 1911 in Mayfield or Traverse City, MI and he is buried in the Saint Mary of Hannah Catholic Church Cemetery in Hannah, MI. I would love to get the photograph to a family member and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or know someone who might be. Thanks, Shelley
