From the Myers-Buhrig Funeral Home: Edward "Ed" Anthony Timinskas, age 75, of Mechanicsburg, died at home on Friday, September 18, 2015. Ed was born on Tuesday, July 2, 1940 in Scranton, Pa., to the late Peter Paul Timinskas and Anne Louise (Barkauskas) Timinskas. Ed's survivors include his two siblings. George Timinskas and his wife Katheryn, of Mesquite, Nevada; Louise Reina of Barkhamsted, Connecticut, his dear friend for over 45 years, Michelle Shannon of mechanicsburg, and several cousins. nieces, nephews, and close friends. Ed graduated from West Scranton High School as part of the class of 1958 and from the University of Scranton in 1962 with a degree in business. He retired in 1994 from the Mevhanicsburg Navy Depot after over 30 years of service working as a computer systems analyst. Ed served in the U. S. Army National Guard for a number of years and was a member of the Lower Allen VFW Post 7530. His favorite pastimes included fast cars with hemi engines, like his Dodge Charger, riding one of his three Harley-Davidson motorcycles with friends, attending air shows with old planes, and volunteering at Steamtown National Historic Site. Ed had a great memory for history and sports trivia and a particular passion for steam engines. He expressed his creative side through crafting model airplanes of all sizes. Ed especially loved college football, and though he was a Notre Dame fan, he preferred attending Bucknell games because he thought the small college games were purer. He enjoyed pickup basketball games, and his buddies remember Ed's trademark skills as someone who was not "overly tall" but "strong as a bull". Ed loved the St. Payrick's Day Parade in Scranton, and his friends remember spending the holiday at his place in Lake Winola and Scranton, where Ed seemed to know everyone. He was known for his big laugh, wide smile, quick quips, and his "natural gusto" that brought smiles to all and lit up every social gathering, and Ed leaves an empty spot in many hearts. All are welcome to join Ed's family at his viewing on Friday, September 25, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m. at Myers-Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, Pa. 17055. Ed's family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Stage and Studio Cafe, next door to Myers-Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory following the service. Burial will follow in Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton. The family suggests memorial contributions to Steamtown National Historic Site. 350 Cliff St., Scranton, Pa. 18503.
