Peter Paul Timinskas of 1614 Swetland St., in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pa. USA was born on March 6, 1909 in Scranton, Pennsylvania United States, and had siblings August C Timinskas and Edward J. Timins Sr.. Peter was baptized on March 18, 1909 at St. Joseph's Church in Throop. He married Anne L. Timinskas on June 17, 1939 at St. Michael's Lithuanian Church 1703 Jackson St., in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pa.. They had children Edward Anthony Timinskas and Louise Reina. He also married Anne Louise (Barkauskas). Peter Timinskas died at age 81 years old on November 3, 1990 in Scranton, Pennsylvania United States, and was buried on November 6, 1990 at Cathedral Cemetery Oram St., in Scranton, Pa. USA.

  • Introduction

    Peter was a good provider and his biggest passion was his family. He was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, and grandfather. In his later years, he looked forward to visits from his grandkids and installed in them a strong work ethic and the importance of a good education. Fluent in Lithuanian, he had an amazing memory, learned quickly. and was very strong. After their marriage, they moved into their first home at 116 S. Filmore Ave., Scranton, Pa.

    Peter attended Van Buren School No. 31 and graduated from Scranton Tech HS in 1929 where he played football. He attended Sweeney Brothers School for Mechanics, Kansas City, Mo. and became a Master Wielder.

  • Professional Career

    Peter started employment in the locomotive shops of the Lackawanna Railroad. Steam locomotives were very heavily used, had alot of parts, and needed something wielded and repaired almost daily. When Diesel Engines came into being, they didn't need as much maintenance. Pete was hired at Bethlehem Steel Mill in Allentown, Pa. Conditions were so terrible. The heat was overwhelming and Pete had a life-threatening stroke on the job. Everyone was horrified, thinking he would never make it but he did and stayed until he retired.
  • Personal Life & Family

    Peter received First Holy Communion on September 28, 1919 at St. Michael's Lithuanian Roman Catholic Church, Garfield Ave., Scranton, Pa. Father LaPorta was the officiant and Parish priest. Pete loved motorcycles (he had Indians), cars, and his airplane (Cessna Skyhawk) that he kept at the Shultzville airport which was only 6 1/2 miles from the cottage at Lake Winola. He, along with his brother Gus, would fix and service all of their vehicles and motors at the garages they owned at 2117 Jackson St., Scranton, Pa. He was adept in carpentry too. After inheriting the cottage at Lake Winola from his father in 1951, he completely remodeled the building inside and out, refurbished the kitchen, added a bath. and replaced the roof. It not only was a favorite destination for relatives and friends in the summer, but it became his peaceful retreat in his later years. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Anne, and brother, Edward. He is survived by his brother August; beloved sons, Edward and George, and beloved daughter, Louise; sister-in-law Sister Amadeus CJC,; niece and nephews, large extended family, and many friends. Funeral services were held on Nov. 6th at the Chomko Funeral Home, Railroad Ave., Scranton, Pa. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Michael's Lithuanian Roman Catholic Church, 1703 Jackson St., Scranton, Pa. officiated by Rev. Joseph Aukalonis. Interment: Cathedral Cemetery. Peter's gravesite at Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton, Pa. is in Section 7, Block 18, Lot#20, Grave #2 in the Barkauskas plot.
