Edwin Rerden had siblings Albert Ernest Rerden, James William Rerdon, Charles Henry Rerden, Oscar Arthur Rerden, and Florence Maud (Rerden) Williams. He married Elizabeth Ann Dean (Hawkins) Rerden in 1894. They had a child Richard Edwin Rerden. He married Amy Elizabeth Turner in 1914. Edwin Rerden died at age 72 years old on June 27, 1939 in Fitzroy North.
