He married Eleanor Bardon Rerden, and had children James William Rerdon, Charles Henry Rerden, Edwin Joseph Rerden, Albert Ernest Rerden, Florence Maud (Rerden) Williams, and Oscar Arthur Rerden. James Rerden died at age 84 years old on December 29, 1918 in Fitzroy, VIC Australia.
