He had siblings Martha Ann Waddington, William Waddington, Mary Waddington, Anna Waddington, Stephen Waddington, and John Waddington. George was baptized on December 25, 1862 at St. John the Baptist's Church in Misson. George Waddington died at age 59 years old on July 10, 1922 at Royal Infirmary in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire County, and was buried on July 13, 1922 at St. Nicholas' Church in Upper Cumberworth.

In 1888, he was 26 years old when on January 12th, the 'Schoolhouse Blizzard' blanketed Dakota Territory. Montana, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas, and Texas were hit, leaving 235 dead. Many of those who perished were children on their way home from school. The day was relatively warm when it began and the blizzard hit unexpectedly, catching most by surprise.
