James Spring Ebbels of Ballarat, City of Ballarat County, VIC Australia was born on August 2, 1868 in Linton to James Spring Ebbels and Emma Jane (Dempsey) Ebbles. He had siblings Harriet Ann Ebbles, Annie Ebbels Hayward, Ada Florence Ebbels, Emmelline Ebbels Gist, and John Thomas Ebbels. He married Sarah Ann (Swenson) Ebbels in 1893, and had children Sarah May Ebbels and James Albert Ebbels. James Ebbels died at age 71 years old on February 7, 1940 in Ballarat.

Farmers in China had been turning up the bones in their fields for generations but most often they were ground up and sold as medicine.
