He had siblings Elizabeth Jane (Letcher) Lovekin, Ada Margaret Letcher, Jessie Letcher, Dr. Herbert Richard Letcher, Esther Mckenzie Letcher, William James Letcher, and Ernest Albert Letcher. He married Annie Marie (Dale) Letcher, and had children Ernest John Letcher, Victor Frederick Letcher, and Irene Stella (Letcher) Chapman. John Letcher died at age 45 years old on August 3, 1905 at Rothschild-Chambers Collins St, in Melbourne.
