Joseph Stead Clark 1865 - 1951

Joseph Stead Clark was born in 1865 in Brooklands, Greater Manchester, Cheshire County, England United Kingdom to Joseph Procter Clark and Elizabeth (Stead) Clark, and had a sibling Milbourne Clark. He was in a relationship with Alexandrina Frances (Dann) Clark, and had children Granville Henry Clark, Norman Stead Clark, Elizabeth Emslie Clark, Frances Ethel (Clark) Wray, and Joseph Douglas Clark. Joseph Clark died at age 85 years old on September 2, 1951 in Fullarton, South Australia, and was buried at Cheltenham Cemetery.

    The Mail, Adelaide. 10th April 1915. - PERSONAL. Mr. J. Stead Clark, branch manager for the Vacuum Oil Co. Ltd, in South Australia, has been absent from the office for about one month. Mr. Clark is on the reserve of Officers of the Commonwealth Military Forces, and his services were required in connection with the training of volunteers going to the front.

CLARK. - On September 2, at his residence, 19 Frew street, Fullarton, Joseph Stead Clark ( retired general manager of Vacuum Oil Co.), the loved husband of the late Fanny Clark, and loving father of Granville, Norman, Betty, and the late Joe and Frances (Mrs. G. Wray). Aged 86 years.

In 1888, at the age of 23 years old, Joseph was alive when on January 12th, the 'Schoolhouse Blizzard' blanketed Dakota Territory. Montana, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas, and Texas were hit, leaving 235 dead. Many of those who perished were children on their way home from school. The day was relatively warm when it began and the blizzard hit unexpectedly, catching most by surprise.
