He married Marion Edith Perkins, and had children Marion Robertson Pitt, Malcolm Robertson Pitt Jr., Margaret Scott (Pitt) Leake, Isabel DeForest Pitt, Alfred Russell Pitt, and Edith Perkins Pitt. Malcolm Pitt died at age 69 years old on August 13, 1934 in stamford, and was buried in August 1934 at woodland cemetery in stamford.

Malcolm was of medium height and built and sported a moustache for many years. His sporting activities were fishing and hunting plus he liked to play golf.
