Ethnicity & Family History
Betty's mother Annie (nee Lewis) Young was born in Victoria, Betty's father Alexander Mitchell Taylor Young was born in Glasgow, Scotland. His family were spirit merchants. Her maternal grand parents came from Wales. They thought the Australian climate would help with Mr Lewis's TB. Several of Annie's siblings were born in Victoria and some were born in Wales, possibly Pentre where the family owned property.
Early Life & Education
Betty needed to leave school at 16. She shared top honours in her classes with another girl. She went to school in Kew, Victoria I think.
Professional Career
Betty was a bookkeeper and a fine financial investor (although she got no credit for this - being a woman). She was very successful, more so than her husband Val Dimelow.
