Sydney Langdon Edwards was born in 1880 to Tobias Langdon Edwards and Christina Edwards ( Laing, and had siblings Lillia Margaret Langdon Ruff ( Edwards, Tobias Langdon Edwards Jnr, Annie Langdon Wall ( Edwards, and George Langdon Edwards. Sydney Edwards died at age 20 years old on November 14, 1901 at Warm Baths in Bela-Bela, Bosveld County, LP South Africa.

  • Introduction

    The Benalla Standard. 17th January 1902. A WILBY TROOPER KILLED. News has been received at Wilby that Trooper Sydney Edwards, youngest son of the late T. Edwards, of Wilby, was killed in action in South Africa on the 14th November last. When the last Victorian contingent was being raised young Edwards endeavored to join, but he failed to pass a medical examination. He however was not deterred from his purpose, and eventually succeeded in working his passage to South Africa. On arrival there he enlisted in Roberts' Light Horse, and was engaged fighting with this brigade, when he lost his life. The deceased soldier was only 21 years of age.
