She had children Harold Frederick Davis, Lowell Dean Davis, James Herbert Davis, and Carole Virginia (Davis) Haake. Virginia Davis died at age 89 years old on August 13, 2000 at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City.

    Virginia Leah Davis, 89, Sugar Creek, died Sunday, August 13, 2000, at St. Joseph Hospital, Kansas City. Mrs. Davis was born December 16, 1910, in Kansas City, and had lived in Sugar Creek for 36 years. She was an active member of the Kings Daughters and Sons for about 60 years and a member of Fairmount Christian Church for about 50 years. She had worked for Macy's and Harzfeld's department stores for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, a son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Jeannette, and a grandson, Will. Her survivors include two sons, Lowell Davis and Jim Davis, and a daughter, Carole Haake, all of the Kansas City area; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, 641 South Ash Avenue. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the George C. Carson and Sons Independence Chapel.

In 1910, in the year that Virginia Leah (Vogan) Davis was born, the Boy Scouts of America was incorporated. U.S. publisher W.D. Boyce was visiting England when he became lost in the London fog. An unknown Boy Scout helped him find his way out, declining a tip (he said that he was a Boy Scout and was doing his good deed for the day). Boyce was so impressed that he incorporated the Boy Scouts of America when he returned home. Its purpose was "to teach boys patriotism, courage, self-reliance, and kindred values."
