In 1919, in the year that Wyneva H Wilson was born, the "Black Sox Scandal" rocked baseball fans during the World Series. Eight players on the Chicago White Sox were accused of throwing the World Series, thus allowing the Cincinnati Reds to win, and making money off of the losses. All of the players were found not guilty by a jury but the fallout lasted for decades. The players were banned from baseball even though they were found innocent.

In 1928, by the time this person was merely 9 years old, Mickie Mouse was born! He first appeared in Disney's Steamboat Willie, along with Minnie. Although they were in two previous shorts, this was the first to be distributed. Steamboat Willie took advantage of the new technology and was a "talkie" - music was coordinated with the animation. It became the most popular cartoon of its day.

On Saint Patrick’s Day We are ALL a bit Irish
It's often been said that on St. Patrick's day, we are all a little Irish. And certainly, on March 17th all around the world people - especially across the U.K., U.S., Canada, and Australia - celebrate the Irish culture and their traditions. Who doesn't love a good Irish ale with corn beef and cabbage while chasing the mythical leprechaun, a red-haired colleen or lad, or doing a step dance (or think Riverdance)? Today is the day to celebrate the Irish people and their traditions across cultures - or to just party! These photos celebrate and remember the Irish people and their rich culture throughout history.
