This page is about Mark Nageotte, father of Olympic gold medalist Katie Nageotte, who won the gold medal in women's pole vaulting on August 5 2021. Mark's mother was Mary Jane McCourt (1934-2015) and his father was Mark C. Nageotte. He had 5 siblings; Sheila, Kathleen, Dan, Bill, and Eileen, and spent most of his life in Ohio. He married Diane M Dixon on April 23, 1988. Mark was 25 and Diane was 27. They had 3 children: Katie, Emily, and Andy. Katie, the oldest child and a 30 year old (as of 2021) Olympic pole vaulter, gave her father Mark credit for being her inspiration. She said "When I do tap my spikes, I think 'alright, let's go dad. Let's do it." She said that Mark was the one who instilled in her a drive to achieve greatness and was her biggest fan before he died of a heart attack in 2007.
