Albert William Cosser
Albert William Cosser 6th December 1886 – 21st December 1916, Age 30 SAILLY-SAILLISEL BRITISH CEMETERY Albert William Cosser was the eldest son of Harry and Agnes Cosser, and was admitted to St. James’ School on 10th October 1893. In the 1911 census, Albert is shown as living with his wife, Nellie, at 17 Ashley Road, Boscombe, and working as a gardener for Bournemouth Council. Albert’s younger brother, Arthur, had also enlisted in the Hampshire Regiment on 24th June 1916 and served overseas, until he was awarded the Silver War Badge and discharged (with wounds) on 26th April 1919. His younger brother, Frederick, served in the Guards Machine Gun Regiment. One of Albert’s sisters, Ethel May, married Albert Victor Brewer, who is commemorated also on the St. James’ War Memorial Cross. Albert’s father (Harry, a wholesale butcher) lived in 14 Stourvale Road and frequently permitted the use of his meadow close to the Church by the Parochial Sunday School’s Committee. In 1917, it was used for a Sports’ Day to mark the breaking up of the schools for the summer holidays, whereupon almost 600 children from the Parish schools attended. The Vicar reported that “It was a goodly sight to see so many smiling happy faces, almost compelling the accompanying adults to forget for the moment ‘all about the War’, and at the same time thank God for the privilege of being fellow workers with Him in the nurturing of His little ones.”

I am a lover of wildlife, the UK canals and life itself. I live onboard a narrowboat with my husband and have a fascination with family history.
I am the mother to Six wonderful children and Seven grand-children. I have the most wonderful husband, who is my soul mate. I have discovered I have family across the world, just by doing my family tree.

I'm a Founder of AncientFaces and support the community answering questions & helping members make connections to the past (thus my official title of Founder & Content and Community Support ). For me, it's been a labor of love for over 20 years. I truly believe with all of my heart that everyone should be remembered for generations to come. I am 2nd generation San Jose and have seen a lot of changes in the area while growing up. We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in San Jose (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US. I am so very proud of my hometown. For more information see Kathy - Founder & Content and Community Director
My family began AncientFaces because we believe that unique photos and stories that show who people are/were should be shared with the world.
