Private First Class Taylor bravely served as a member of Weapons Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division during the Korean War, sacrificing his life in combat on December 3, 1952.
He was posthumously honored with the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, and Republic of Korea War Service Medal for his courageous service.
