My father who always had a smile on his face. Was drafted for the Korean War. He had serve previously with the US Coast Guard on the freighters of the Great Lakes, continuing after WWII as a Merchant Marine. Then 6 months off the ships as a regular joe he was drafted and put into basic training and put into the Army, where he served with the Tank Corps.
Arthur George Sylver was born on October 24, 1928 to parents Lloyd Sterling Sylver and Irene Minnie Whiting. He had siblings including Jacques "Jack" Lloyd Sylver (1923-2000), Frederick "Fred" R Sylver (1925-2016), Betty Jane Dolores Sylver (1927-2003), Ronald Sylver (1929-1987), and Thomas Edison Sylver (1930-2001).
He was a lifelong resident of Detroit, MI and worked at Jones & Laughlin Steel Corp. in Warren, MI for 36 years.
