Benjamin Mantor
I have two old studio photographs belonging to the MANTOR Family of Maine. The first is a photograph of Benjamin MANTOR which was taken at the King Studio in Fairfield, ME sometime in the 1880's with Benjamin likely in his 20's at the time it was taken. The second photograph is of three children identified as "Distant cousins from MANTOR side". The photograph was taken at the Dinsmore Studio in Dover, ME sometime in the 1890's with the three children appearing to be about one year to 5 years of age, likely two boys and one girl.

Based on limited research and thanks to the assistance of an area researcher I was able to gather the following information regarding Benjamin and his family:

Benjamin “Bennie” MANTOR was b. 1863 in Anson or North Anson, ME to parents Benjamin MANTOR (1820-1910) and Emily Frances SNELL (1832-1914) who were married 19 Oct 1852 in Anson, ME. Benjamin had one sibling, Helen C. MANTOR (1857-1912). Benjamin was the mail agent between North Anson and Portland, ME and died suddenly while working on the train apparently due to an aneurysm. Benjamin died 5 Sept 1886 in North Anson, ME and he is buried there in the Sunset Cemetery, he was unmarried and had no children.

His sister Helen married Mr. CRAGIN, and they had a son Arthur Mantor CRAGIN. Arthur had three daughters including Helen CRAGIN who had a son David B. WYMAN who was living in Castine, ME.

I would like to get these two photographs to a family member and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or know someone who might be.

Thanks,
Shelley
