Alexander Bopp is my Grandfather. There may be a connection. I am his youngest and last son.
Correction: grandson
I have ancestors named Bopp from Fresno. Louise was the 2nd child of 10, born 1895. As well as Conrad Bopp. I have to double check the information I have from my grandmother. Any connections, please let me know. Thanks.
Are these ancestors of Conrad Bopp and Marie Katherine Kromberg, both from Straub, Russia (Germans from Russia) settled in Fresno 1889? Any connection? Let me know.
My Grandma said they were cousins of Conrad (Her Grandfather) Yes, they came from Russia. Conrad had 3 brothers, Larry (Lawrence), Clyde, and Monroe. He's wife's maiden name was Schiebelhut. She didn't recognise the house. Her direct line had a farm, outside Fresno, but had a Fresno address.
gab56... what was Alexander Bopp's father's and mother's name please? If the names are those presented by Bbopp2, we may have similar relatives. Note to bobbwk... Lawrence, Clyde and Monroe (Monty) were sons of John Conrad Bopp, Conrad Bopp was their grandfather.
Dorathea Bopp/Schwed married Carl/Karl Hoppe/Krasajar 1800's in Russia, any info connecting to other Bopp's/Hoppe's or back to Germany would be appreciated.
the post above about shiebelhut being maiden name. i think i have the obit for her father johann konrad shiebelhut. her name was louise bopp. heres the obit. Johann Konrad Shiebelhut was born on Jan 11,1840 in Stahl, North Russia. He was married to Katherina Margaret Weibert. They had three daughters. Neil Marks
The relatives & ancestors of Walter Marks/Markus and Elma Harriet Roth. Both families are of Volga-German descent, migrating to the U.S. in the late 1800's/early 1900's. Walter's family was from the village of Lauwe, while Elma's family was from Straub. Both villages were in the Samara Providence, and located along the Volga River. Walter's family name was originally "Markus", but his father legally changed it to "Marks" in the early 1920's. Both families settled in Fresno, Ca, living very fruitful and product lives. About 80,000 Volga-Germans migrated to Fresno, bringing their traditions and custons with them. For more information on the Volga-Germans in this area, you can contact the Central California Chapter of AHSGR (www.ahsgr.org/fresno/cacentra.html). They have extensive records and family genealogies that can be researched for free.

Been curious, but took put it into action recently. Used an online site to put in what I knew, what my Uncle Rob told me, and my Grandma Carol. A few other relatives have added some more details
