Charles Edward Bush
I have two old studio photographs belonging to the BUSH and GETZ families including a photograph of Charles E. BUSH taken at the Thomas Studio in Montclair, NJ. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Charles in his early teens at the time the photograph was taken. Someone has also written "Dal" on the back of the photograph. The second photograph is one of Mary Barbara GETZ BUSH which was taken at the Bonthoux & Trevaskis Studio in Hazleton, PA. The photograph of Mary was taken in the 1880's as well, with Mary appearing to be about 4 years old at the time.

Based on limited research and thanks to a family researcher I was able to gather the following information regarding the families:

Charles Edward BUSH was b. 18 Oct 1873 in Montclair Township, Essex Co., NJ to parents Rufus S. BUSH (b. 1850) and Elizabeth Becket DYMOCK (1856-1925) who were married 23 Feb 1873 in Essex County, NJ. Charles was one of 6 children born to this couple including Charles Edward; Gladys; William “Willie”; Mary; George L.; and Martha Elizabeth BUSH, all born between 1873 and 1890. Charles married Mary Barbara GETZ (b. 1878) on 16 Apr 1898 in Manhattan, NY and they had four children including Mildred Mary; Charles Frederick; Leona Winifred; and Wesley Edward BUSH, all born between 1899 and 1916. Charles died in 1952 and is buried in the Hanover Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ.

Mary Barbara GETZ was b. 13 Aug 1878 in Allentown, PA to parents Samuel S. GETZ (1840-1910) and Mary Barbara HILLER or HILLIER (1851-1921). Mary was one of 5 children born to this couple including William H.; Frederick Samuel; Mary Barbara; Helen Leona; and John Albert GETZ all born between 1874 and 1889. Mary died in 1961 and is buried in the Hanover Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ.

Charles and Mary’s children did not all marry, both Mildred and Wesley remained single, and Leona married an Englishman and moved to England, and she is believed to have had children but nothing is known of her family. Their son Charles Frederick BUSH had a daughter Susan Joanne BUSH (1949-2011) who according to her obituary had four boys and was survived by sons Christopher P. LABRANCHE of Rockland; and Joseph R. LABRANCHE of Rockland.

I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that these photographs can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be please contact me.

Thanks,
Shelley
