Many of the photo studio's had nice cloths for people to put on for their pictures because they didn't have any. They would save and scrape together what little money they had for a picture. Probably what happened here. On the bright side they must have had parents who loved them enough to make the sacrifice! There is a lesson in this picture.
I had never heard that! :) My thought is that they were really loved since the family pulled together enough money for the picture . . . thank you for the insight!
I think the attitude towards shoes for children was a lot different at one time....I have a picture of my father at age 6...that would have been about 1910....all dressed up, and no shoes....And it's actually happening again. Baby shoes seem to be completely out of style !!!
I always thought it was from having to walk to the photography studio. Shoes and stockings would get too dirty, so they would take them off for the photo.
The bigger the collar, would mean higher the person of importance was in the 1500’s . Off course back then picture didn’t even thought to exist but just thought to say what I noticed.
