Frederick Chalfy was born to Meyer Chalfy (1911-1976) and Sylvia Simonoff (1911-2010). His father was born in Poland and his mother was born in the United States. They had 2 children in addition to Fred - Morton and Roberta.
Frederick married Ronalie Resnick and they divorced on December 13 1973 in Sarasota Florida. They had one child, a son, Dylan.
While Fred is listed as living in Sarasota Fl in 1994, his last address in the Social Security Death Index is listed as New York, New York.
Fred was a property master and set dresser who had been with the tv show "Law and Order" from its inception. The closing card on an episode that aired after he passed read "In Memorium: Fred Chalfy, Anthony Monteforte" . (Anthony P Monteforte was with craft services). Fred was a longtime member (membership since October 1, 1990) of Motion Picture Studio Mechanics, Local 52, IATSE. See Fred Chalfy: Obituary.
Frederick's death notice in the NY Times reads: "Passed away peacefully on March 10. Sweet father to Dylan, loving son to Sylvia and the late Meyer Chalfy, brother to Roberta and Morton ."

I'm a Founder of AncientFaces and support the community answering questions & helping members make connections to the past (thus my official title of Founder & Content and Community Support ). For me, it's been a labor of love for over 20 years. I truly believe with all of my heart that everyone should be remembered for generations to come.
I am 2nd generation San Jose and have seen a lot of changes in the area while growing up. We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in San Jose (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US.
