Fred Wahl graduated from Central High School in Superior, Wisconsin. He lived in Foxboro, located south of Superior. In order to attend high school he had to get up early each day and do his farm chores before leaving for school. He would hitch hike into town for classes and back home after classes, take care of afternoon chores, and then get his homework done for the next day.
