HOME IN WEST VIRGINIA
GOING THROUGH MY BLOSS PICTURES, I FOUND THIS PICTURE.

I HAVE SEEN THIS PICTURE MANY TIMES AND DO NOT KNOW WHO IN THE FAMILY LIVED OR LIVES IN THIS HOUSE. I BELIEVE IT WAS A MADGE BLOSS WHO MARRIED A LESTER. MY MOTHER VISITED W. V. A LOT AND I KNOW THAT SHE STAYED IN THIS HOUSE AS WELL AS THE OTHER BLOSS KIN FOLK WHO TRAVELED TO WEST VIRGINIA. I BELIEVE THAT THE HOUSE IS LOCATED IN WAYNE COUNTY W.V.

This appears to be the house of my great uncle Garret Spurlock, located at the head of Garrets Creek, about 5 miles north of Wayne, W.Va... I spent several pleasant afternoons there in my childhood during family gatherings in the 1950's... Mr. Spurlock had inherited the house, but I'm not sure of the family connection... Family connections in this area become quite confused due to the intermarriages of several families... Infact, I am my own fourth cousin, through three different bloodlines... Although Mr. Spurlock was closer related to my mother (Alma Mae Bloss (Bowen/Spurock), he was also related to my paternial grandfather, Floyd M. Bloss, (who often accompnied us to family gatherings at the house) but I don't know the connection (it may have been 2nd or 3rd cousins)... As you can tell from the picture the house is of a style that was built in the 1850's in that area... I suspect the house was passed down through the family inheritance through several generations before I became familiar with it back in the 1950's... I suspect that the house was passed down through the Garret family and since my Great-Great Grandmother was a Garret, prior to marring Ezekial Bloss, I think that is where the Bloss connection to the house originates.
