James F Biggs
James F. Biggs died January 3rd, 1998 in Chico CA. He was born November 5th, 1918 to Raymond (1877-1954) and Ethel Biggs (1882-1965) in Marion IN. He graduated from Wabash (Indiana) High School in 1937, served as senior class VP and lettered in football, basketball and track. He later attended and graduated from Ft. Benjamin Military Academy in Indianapolis, IN. James earned a private pilots license flying Stearman aircraft. He entered the Navy in 1942, and served until his discharge in Red Bluff CA in 1945. James married Gertrude Johanna Werling (1914-2003) of Ft Wayne IN, in 1943. They settled in Red Bluff CA in 1944 where all 5 children were born. In 1954 the family moved to Chico CA were he owned and operated Sierra Roof company. He was a member of the Valley Contractors Exchange and served several terms as its president. James sold Sierra Roof Company and retired in 1977 to part time work. Servicing phone booths in the mountains allowed travel to the high country. Children: James R Biggs, Linda Ann Biggs, Joel Patrick Biggs, Todd Raymond Biggs. Grandchildren Stacy Christine Biggs and James Andrew Biggs. A daughter Jacqaline (1944-1944) preceded him in death. He was a good man and a blessing to those who knew him.
