Jerry Hay
I’ve “rescued” two old photographs belonging to the HAY Family. The first photograph is one of Jerry HAY who is identified as the Father of Lydia HAY CAROLIN. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880’s with Jerry likely in his 40’s or 50’s at the time it was taken. There is no studio or location for the photographer noted. A note on back includes the name “Mr. M. C. CAROLIN of Halsey, Oregon” and directions. The second photograph is identified as Bessie HAY and appears to have been taken in the early 1900’s with Bessie likely about 2-3 years old at the time. This second photograph doesn’t include location or photographer info.

Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this HAY Family:

Jeremiah “Jerry” HAY was b. Aug 1839 in Kentucky and had one sibling, a brother Frank HAY (1830-1927). Jerry married Martha A. EVANS (1849-1912) and together they had 6 children including, Alice; Lydia; Annie; William Wesley; Frank Lee; and Nelle HAY, all born between 1866 and 1882. Jerry died 23 Feb 1920 in Linn Co. OR and is buried in the Masonic Cemetery in Harrisburg, OR. Jerry’s daughter referenced on the photograph was b. 1869 and married Matthew Clarence CAROLIN (1870-1938) and she died 3 Sept 1944 and is buried in the Redmond Memorial Cemetery in Redmond, OR. Jerry’s daughter Alice H. HAY (1867-1927) married Mr. WHITE.

Jerry’s son William Wesley HAY was b. 1875 and died 30 Oct 1945 in Linn, OR, records indicate his wife was Louise HAY.
