John Holbrook, "Jack" to his family and friends a longtime Corona resident, passed away peacefully after a long illness at Kindred Hospital Rancho Cucamonga at 4:01 PM Friday, January 8th with his family by his side.

Born to Wanda and Bill Holbrook, in Wayland, Michigan, Jack enjoyed his early childhood on a farm. At ten years old, Jack and his family moved to Los Angeles. After graduating from Washington High School in 1952, Jack entered the U.S. Army and served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division.

After military service Jack owned and operated Brandt Automatic Cashier Company, servicing money counting and packaging equipment.

Jack married the love of his life and while living in Gardena, daughters were born. Jack and his family next moved to Los Alamitos, before settling in Corona.

His career took him first to Wyle Laboratories in Norco and then to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena where he was responsible for Space Simulator Vacuum Chambers and calibration of high altitude cryogenic infrared cameras, traveling the world to set up the equipmment.

Jack was a life member of the Roman Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a past president of and longtime member of Kiwanis Club of Corona recently focusing on the NEA's Read Across America program Terrific Kids.

Viewing will be held at Thomas Miller Mortuary on Thursday, Jan. 21 at 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM with Vigil/Rosary at 6:00 PM
Mass will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church on Friday, Jan. 22 at 11:00 AM in Corona. Interment will be private at Riverside National Cemetery.

I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
