John R. Svendsen, Proud Marine
John Richard Svendsen in his Marine Dress Blues.
One day after 50 years an old lady called me up to thank me. She had no date for the Prom at the Waldorf Astoria with a real orchestra and Lobster Newburg and afterward a limo to the Copacabana and then home. I sent Johnny in his Marine Dress Blues looking like Paul Newman and a terrific dancer. She looked beautiful and he was a dream date. She said because of me it was one of the happiest nights of her life instead of a disaster.
