Kathrina "Kitty" Olga BANKS

I have two old studio photographs belonging to the BANKS Family of California. The first photograph is Kitty BANKS which was taken on 18 Jul 1886 at the I. Boysen Studio in Colusa, CA when she was 4 years old. A note indicates that the photograph was gifted “Compliments of your true friend N. H. B.”. The second photograph is identified as Jennie Henderson BANKS which was taken at the J. M. Pickett Studio in Colusa, CA. Jennie also appears to be about 4 years old at the time it was taken. This photo was gifted “To Mrs. PING”.

Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family:

Virginia “Jennie” Henderson BANKS was b. Oct 1877 in Colusa Co., CA to parents James “Jim” Oliver BANKS (b. 1845) and Ella “Nelle” or “Nellie” M. HENDERSON (b. 1846) who were married in 1876 in Los Angeles, CA. Jennie had one sibling, a sister Kathrina “Kitty” Olga BANKS (1882-1973). Jennie was married twice, first to Ralph Finnerty LINDSEY (1886-1920) and after his death she married Alexander SUTHERLAND (b. 1880) on 6 Feb 1928 in Sutter Co., CA. Jennie died 11 Mar 1967 in Colusa, CA and is buried in the Williams Cemetery in Williams, CA.

Kathrina “Kitty” or “Kittie” Olga BANKS was b. 17 Jul 1882 in Williams, CA to the same parents. Kitty never married and was a schoolteacher in Colusa County, CA for many years. Kitty died on 22 Jan 1973 in Clearlake Highlands, CA and she is buried in Williams Cemetery in Williams, CA.
