Lawrence White
I have an old studio photograph of Lawrence WHITE which was taken at the Walker Studio in Joplin, MO in the early 1900's. Lawrence appears to be about 6-7 years old at the time. The name Mrs. W. B. WHITE and 1502 Virginia Ave is written on the back of the photograph along with details ordering a bust version of the photograph. Based on census records I know that this is the family of William Van Buren WHITE and his wife Mary Elizabeth RILEY and their grandson Lawrence WHITE whose mother was Florence B. WHITE.

Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Lawrence and his family:

Lawrence WHITE was b. 2 Oct 1895 in Joplin, MO and married Inez GLOVER (1896-1974). They had a daughter Charlotte Ann WHITE MCGINNESS (1929-2006). Lawrence was employed as a Miner with the W. H. Milling Co. in Webb City, MO in 1917 when he registered for the draft. Lawrence died 15 Aug 1965 and is buried in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Webb City, MO. His mother Florence B. WHITE STACY was b. 12 Jan 1880 in Joplin, MO to parents William Van Buren WHITE (1838-1935-born in Orange Co., NC, the son of David WHITE and Dicey or Dicy NOWLIN) and Mary “May” Elizabeth RILEY (1855-1929-dau of J. W. RILEY and Mary Elizabeth LIGGETT) who were married on 19 Feb 1872 in Newton, MO.

Florence married George Bryant STACY (1878-1939) on 30 Jul 1905 in Joplin, MO. Florence died 20 Feb 1950 in San Francisco, CA and she is also buried in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Webb City, MO. It doesn’t appear that his mother was married at the time of his birth, and he was raised by his grandparents.

I would like to get the photograph to a family member and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or know someone who might be.

Thanks,
Shelley
