Leo Lofchie- Melrose High School

Leo Lofchie was born on July 28, 1918 in Boston, MA to parents Samuel Lofchie (1889-1971) and Bessie Schnitzer (1889-1943). He had siblings Frederick (1909-1976), Beatrice (1911-2008), and Bertha Lofchie (1915-2009). They lived in Melrose, Middlesex, Massachusetts, USA. Leo graduated from Melrose High School in Melrose, Massachusetts, USA and later went on to complete at least two years of college as a student at the United States Diesel Engineering School. At the age of 22, Leo registered for the draft on October 16, 1940, in Melrose, Massachusetts, USA. A couple months later, on March 14, 1941, Leo enlisted in the military in Boston, Massachusetts and held the rank of Private. Leo's enlistment branch was categorized as "Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers, USA." He was part of the Selectees (Enlisted Men) component.
