Mary Matilda Simmons Cheever
I have an old studio photograph identified as "Madame CHEEVER of Kenosha, WI" which was taken at the Hollister Studio. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's or 1900's with the woman likely in her 70's or 80's at the time. I believe that this is a photograph of Mary Matilda SIMMONS CHEEVER. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Mary and her family:

Mary Matilda SIMMONS was b. 23 Aug 1834 in Fulton County, NY to parents Ichabod SIMMONS (1812-1892) and Lucy POWELL (1812-1842) who were married 24 Sept 1833. Mary was one of 4 children born to this couple including Mary Matilda; Angeline; Sarah “Sally” Ann; Emily Jane SIMMONS, all born between 1834 and 1841. After Lucy died Ichabod remarried and three additional children were born including, Elizabeth; Charles Ezra; and Catherine SIMMONS, all born between 1843 and 1849.

Mary married Hurlbert or Hurlburt Brigham CHEEVER (b. 1831) on 16 Mar 1859 in Lake County, IL and they had four children including Mary Ella; Charles Hurlbut; William Rockwell; and Homer Levi CHEEVER, all born between 1860 and 1872. By 1890 they were living in Kenosha, WI and on 24 May 1914 she died in Illinois.

I would like to get this photograph to a family member and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or you know someone who might be.

Thanks,
Shelley
