James Jones Steele

I have an old studio photograph identified as J. Jones STEELE which was taken at the Blair & Son Studio in Worcester, MA in the 1870's or 1880's with the young man appearing to be in his teens or 20's at the time it was taken. He is also identified as "Elam BAILEY'S Uncle" and based on this I believe it is a photograph of James Jones STEELE. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Jones and his family:

James Jones STEELE was b. 6 May 1862 in Roxbury, VT to parents James J. STEELE (1824-1908) and Martha Wood PIKE (1827-1899) who were married in 1850 in Northfield, VT. James was one of 5 children born to this couple including Clara J.; Albert Henry; James Jones; Frank Burton; and William Mahlon STEELE, all born between 1851 and 1866. James was married twice, first to Alice Mary GILLIGAN (1867-1890) on 29 Apr 1889 in Roxbury, VT and second to Etta Adelia or Adella FLETCHER (1870-1937) in Roxbury, VT on 25 Oct 1899 with whom he had a son, Alvin Jones STEELE (1907-1908). Jones died 7 Feb 1943 in Roxbury, VT and is buried in the East Roxbury Cemetery in East Roxbury, VT.

George Elam BAILEY was b. 29 Sept 1886 in Northfield, VT to parents George Henry BAILEY (1844-1922) and Clara J. STEELE (1851-1887) who were married 7 Nov 1871 in Roxbury, VT. Elam married Ethel May or Mae COFRIN or COFFRIN (1889-1968) on 4 Apr 1906 or 1910 in Northfield, VT and they had four children including George Lewis; Clara Alberta; Mary Ellis; and Jennie Mildred BAILEY, all born between 1910 and 1914. Elam died 5 Nov 1973 in Northfield, VT and is buried in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Northfield, VT.
