Peter Edward Holbrook, known to all as Pete, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2023 in Santa Cruz Ca after a brief illness. He was born February 4, 1940 in Hartford, Conn. Pete is survived by his sisters Kathy McKennan and Abigail Munro. He is also survived by his stepson Steve Namanny, and his wife Chris of Sioux City, Iowa. Their adult children: Ben of Minneapolis, Mn; Andrew of Boulder, Co and Katey of Washington, DC. Sadly, Pete was preceded in death by his beloved wife Francis, and stepdaughter Christy Hamman. Pete has many surviving nieces and nephews in California and Minnesota.Pete attended Menlo Atherton High School in Menlo Park, Ca where he laid the foundation for his auto mechanic skills. Pete was a skilled mechanic, renowned for his ability to fix any car just by listening to it run. He took great pride in keeping many older cars running smoothly for various individuals. His specialty was working on classic cars.In addition to his civilian life Pete also served in the US Coast Guard. His dedication and commitment to his military service were commendable.A celebration of Pete's life will be held on November 11, 2023 at 2:00pm at the Boulder Creek Golf Club, 16901 Big Basin Way, Boulder Creek. Family, friends and all those whose lives were touched by Pete are invited to come together to honor his memory.Please join us as we remember Pete's incredible life and the lasting impact he had on those around him.

I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
